APK MANAGER comes across a significant number of searches for Android wifi hacking related terms (how to hack wifi password, crack wifi apk, download iwifihack apk, crack wep key with android etc.) and believe it or not people are desperate to get some magical apk file that could liberate them from the hassle of finding free internet access. To avoid treating individual questions and queries about wifi password cracking android tools, we decided to review such applications floating around the world wide web and separate myths and realities.
There are a number of android applications on Google Play claiming to hack / crack wifi passwords…but do they really work? Let’s discuss some of these:
WifiPass claims to crack passwords for WLAN_XXXX, VODAFONEXXXX y JAZZTEL_XXXX routers mostly available in spain, if the network password is the default one with this tool you’ll get it in seconds. I have personally used this application while living in Barcelona and my experience tells me to not to rely in this. The success rate was around 20-30 percent. But unlike other fakes wifipass is does not inject any trojan to your Android phone. Additionally, pretty descent number of people have given 5 stars to this app. If someone from sapin wanna give it a try, go get it free from Google Play or direct APK from Skydrive.
The WiFi Hacker
Wifi Hacker proclaims similar as wifipass to break all barriers between you and internet. Here is interesting description from its developer:
Wi-Fi hacker is the ideal app that simulates gaining access to Wi-Fi networks. If you found a network and you need to know its password this is the ideal app for you. In a few short steps by running an automated script the app will reveal the password. WEP/WPA/WPA2 hacking abilities.
I wonder how Google allows to enter such applications to Android market. There are many people commenting this app as Trojan Vern Rolton warns us:
BEWARE!!! The app they want you to install on top of this is another TROJAN Just a ploy to install Adware trojans on to your Droid. Why do they let this s**t on to Google. Go away build a legitimate app that people would be willing to pay for. We can accept the fact that it is a prank app but that is not the main reason for its existence.
While observing the review stats for this app, I was wondering how could more than six thousand people mark Wifi Hacker with five stars? Further research led me to an interesting but shocking discovery about Android apps rating.
WWW is a universe with wonders….positive as well as negative. There are many website offering their services for few bucks to rate your Android Apps in bulk. Fiverr is one such paradise for paid applications’ reviews. People offer their services for 5 US dollars to review android apps or games from five to twenty different google play accounts. I am quoting one such offer:
I will post 15 reviews or 20 ratings to your free android app in google play store for $5
Are you still willing to believe on Google Play reviews and ratings?
iwifihack apk is another fake application, though not available on Google Play, being promoted by some guy, claiming to do wonders on your android phone. This guy is cashing the vulnerability and curiosity of android users endeavoring to find such app. His Modus Operandi is creating some youtube videos leading viewers to believe that such application does exist and an alleged DownLoad link is usually available in description of the video that leads the clicker to complete some paid surveys before they are able to DownLoad iwifihack apk. All their efforts end in smoke when they come to realize that after all these efforts they got a fake wifi password cracking app for their android and someone who lead them to this hoax made pretty descent money. Here is a good video explaining this Hoax:
